Around 35 deaths and 4,200 accidents involving electricity are recorded in the UK every year.

To help combat this, electrical systems in both commercial and educational premises must be tested periodically according to the British Standard for electrical safety (BS 7671).

Sygma Fire Services are highly experienced and fully accredited to complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR), ensuring the safety and compliance of all fixed electronics. EICR reports are valid for between 1 and 5 years, depending on your business.

When Are they Needed?

Electrical installations such as plug sockets and internal wiring can deteriorate over time and present a fire risk. Corrosion, accidental damage, wear, tear and ageing can all be factors that result in an electrical fire.

Electricity at Work Regulations (EAWR) 1989 and the Health & Safety Work Act 1974 requires all employers to provide a safe, working environment. To ensure compliance, all electrical products and systems must be maintained through periodic inspections.

Furthermore, insurance providers may require EICR reports to be completed. Failure to do so can often result in the policy being void.

An EICR must also be completed if the ownership, tenancy, or primary function of a premises has changed. Tests should also be carried out after any significant changes to the property, for example, new fixed-wire equipment.

Why use Sygma?

Tests can only be carried out by an electrically competent person, such as a registered electrician or professional engineer. All of our engineers are NICEIC qualified and highly experienced in electrical testing.

Before the test begins, we will undertake a free-of-charge initial survey of your site following the Institute of Electrical Engineers Wiring Regulations BS7671. This will allow us to provide an accurate and fair quote for the testing required to issue an EICR.

You will be assigned both a Personal Account Manager and a Lead Site Engineer who will take time to get to know you and the specific needs of your premises. If preferred, tests can be scheduled during quiet periods to minimise business interruption.
